Youth Developent Professional

We are currently hiring for part-time Youth Development Professionals. The hours would be sometime between 2 pm – 7 pm Monday – Friday with Teen CLUB being 6:30 pm – 9 pm on Tuesday and Fridays. We start at $10/hour and run through the school year using the District 87 calendar. We start training from 9 am – 3 pm August 14 – 16 and it is mandatory. Programming starts August 20, 2018 – May 24, 2019.

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington-Normal is looking for energetic and responsible employees who have a passion for working with children to join our organization in our After School Program. This position will entail working with children/teens ages 5 to 18.

Key Roles

  • Learn and implement nationally recognized programs while promoting and stimulating program participation.
  • Provide supervision, guidance and act as role models to club members.
  • Monitor programs, services, and activities to ensure the safety of all members.
  • Flexibility when changes need to be made and dealing with a variety of situations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order of classrooms.
  • Attend staff meetings and follow procedures.
  • Willingness to meet educational requirements.

Additional Information

  • Part-Time After School Program schedule: Monday – Friday After school – 2:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
  • Part-Time Summer Program schedule Monday – Friday 7:30 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. or 12:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.
  • Additional hours allotted for lesson plans, activity planning and staff meetings.
  • Opportunity for advancement is available to all staff.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • High School Diploma – Required, Bachelors Degree or some college preferred.
  • Experience working with children
  • Transportation to and from work; Drivers’ License Preferred

Physical Requirements

Helping members grow, learn, and gain new skills can be very rewarding. The work is sometimes routine but new activities and challenges mark each day. Youth development can be physically and emotionally taxing, as workers constantly stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift (25 pounds constantly) to attend to each member’s interests and problems.
