Who We Are

Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal is a youth enhancement program that provides both summer and after-school activities. These activities serve the emotional, cultural and social needs of youth ages 6-18. The Club plays a positive role in the lives of young people, providing a safe environment where they can learn and grow.

Our Mission

Is to empower all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The Club’s success in continuing a standard of excellence in its programs and expanding its efforts through community partnerships will result from the Board, leadership team and a commitment to high-quality, high-value leadership development for children, youth, and families. As a result, the Club’s Board and Executive leadership will be acknowledged as leading advocates for child and youth development and will be sought out for service and support by fellow community leaders in their efforts to build a stronger community for all families.

What We Do

Since February 1992, Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal has been a recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit organization headquartered in Bloomington, Illinois. The Club’s original location was in the basement of the John Kane Homes Community Center. By 1993 the Club had outgrown that space and moved to its current location next to the Lawrence Irvin Neighborhood Center (LINC.) We operate after-school and summer enrichment programs in three locations serving the academic, emotional, cultural and social needs of youth ages 6-18. Boys & Girls Club give kids opportunities to succeed through programs that truly impact their lives. We provide Club members with:
  • Homework help and tutoring
  • Computer labs
  • Sports and other recreational activities
  • Field trips
  • Arts
  • Games
  • Character and leadership development
  • Career exploration and development
At the end of the day, we want our Club members to:
  • Graduate from high school on time with a plan for the future
  • Engage in healthy behaviors and become fit for life
  • Develop strong character and become engaged citizens
In 2017, we will celebrate 25 years of service to local, at-risk children. Thank you to our friends, supporters, and investors for continuing to provide great futures for youth in our community … especially those who need us most. We believe in FIVE key elements for positive youth development:
The Club is a safe haven where members feel physically and emotionally secure at all times
  • FUN:
The Club facility, staff, and program offerings create a welcoming, positive environment that allows members to engage in play, enjoy their time, and be happy and eager to come to the Club.
The Club ensures that every young person feels connected to one or more adults and has friendships with peers.
Club staff and programs consistently communicate the expectation that every child has the potential to excel, be productive and succeed at the Club and in life.
The Club takes every opportunity to recognize and validate Club members' achievement and accomplishments.
